We are driven by Jesus’ love for the sick. Our health centers provide quality healthcare for the rural poor of Northern Uganda.
Our 10 health centers are run by compassionate nurses who treat anyone in need. Each health center is connected to a local church, which provides oversight and spiritual guidance.
Northern Uganda emerged from a 30 year civil war in 2008. The region is now one of the poorest in Uganda, and good health is a cornerstone of our recovery
Through your generous donations, we've started up 4 brand new small Health Centers in remote, rural locations. They need to be self-sustaining, so we'll trial them for 6 months and see if the demand in the villages is enough. The gratefulness of the communities has been incredible. I've linked my blogs below which describe the opening of each clinic.
The new Delivery and post-natal room at Oberabic Health Center. We have already delivered babies there. Huge thanks to the Nechelles and Overseas Foundation for providing the funds for this project. Onwards and upwards for Oberabic
The big move happened! We've finally moved into the big new building. Staff and patients are all so excited to finally operate out of a purpose built building. A huge thanks to the Allemall foundation and Christ's College Canterbury for helping us make this happen.
St. Luke health center has just moved into a new purpose-built facility. Lanyero Nancy the in-charge is excited to move out of our rental building because now we have more space, and a room for short term admissions and deliveries. Hygeine and patient privacy is also much better. 5 of our 10 health centers now have a permanent, purpose built center, and we hope to complete building at least 2 more by the end of this year.
This is Akwero. Her name means "rejected" in the Acholi (Northern Uganda) language. Today she wasn't rejected. Our staff deep in Oberabic village treated her with lifesaving malaria drugs, and she's ready to take on the world again.
Our Australian nurse Tash has spent the last 2 weeks working with staff on how to best treat the conditions they deal with every day. We're using evidence based flowcharts as a simple and effective method to give our patients the best care possible
We'd like to give a Huge thanks to Christ's College who are partnering with us to build St. Philip hospital. Our awesome staff currently struggle to cope with over 1200 patients every month in a tiny 2 room building. When we're finished we'll be able to deliver babies, admit patients and expand our community services which is great for everyone.
